How to Host High-Impact Virtual Events
RippleMatch
After more than a year of hosting events almost exclusively online, we’ve all learned a thing or two about what works and what doesn’t. However, what kept students engaged at the beginning of the pandemic may not be enough now that so many are suffering from Zoom fatigue and struggling to balance overprogramming. Whether you’re looking to improve your virtual recruitment events or are hoping to wow your summer interns, it’s important to reevaluate and refresh your virtual event strategy.
The Top Women’s Colleges to Find Entry-Level Candidates

Today, women make up nearly 60% of undergraduate enrollment in colleges across the United States — a major increase since the 1960s when just 41% of higher education students were female. While most colleges today are coeducational, there are just over 30 women-only colleges remaining in the United States and Canada (down from 230 schools in 1960), according to the Women's College Coalition. These schools offer their students a unique cultural and academic experience. Women’s colleges enroll hundreds of thousands of college students yearly, with accepted students from all backgrounds.

Summer 2021 Internships: Virtual, Hybrid, or In-Person?
RippleMatch
When the coronavirus pandemic upended daily life in 2020, the way we work changed almost overnight. Many employees began working from home, originally expecting to return to the office within a few weeks. As it became clear that remote work would continue indefinitely, companies were forced to make decisions about their summer internships. According to NACE, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, more than 1 in 5 companies cancelled their internships entirely in 2020. Of those who held summer internships, 70% conducted them virtually or in an otherwise adapted setting. We found very similar results in a recent survey of campus recruiters.
Tips for Hosting Virtual Internship Programs in 2021
RippleMatch
In 2020, many companies were forced to host their internships virtually, with little time to plan. The ability of university teams to adapt in-person programs in as little as a few months or even weeks was impressive, but many lessons were learned from the hastily-formed programs.
How to Leverage Diverse Partnerships to Connect With Top Black Talent
RippleMatch
Now, more than ever, companies understand the importance of building diverse teams. However, Black workers remain underrepresented in the fastest growing markets and industries. Almost half of Black private-sector employees work in low-salary industries like retail, food service, or healthcare, which have the highest share of workers making under $30,000. Conversely, Black workers are underrepresented in high-growth and high-paying industries like financial services, information technology, and professional services. Even in industries with high representation, like retail, Black employees are rarely represented at the executive level.

This year’s graduates face challenges they never could have imagined when they entered college. The unexpected emergence of COVID-19 led to decreased employment rates, changes to work environments (largely a shift to remote work), and new hiring practices. Now, with the end of the school year just around the corner, juniors and seniors continue to face an uncertain academic and professional future.
6 Ideas To Build Community During A Remote Internship
RippleMatch
Internships are about so much more than work. They’re also an invaluable opportunity for potential future candidates to get a feel for company culture, colleagues and build a sense of community with their fellow interns. But shifting to a remote internship can make building those same relationships more difficult. In fact, in a RippleMatch survey of over 1,000 college juniors and seniors from 235 schools, only 44% of students rated community-building with peers as a positive experience during their remote internship.
6 Things We Know About How Generation Z Communicates in the Workplace in the Era of COVID-19
RippleMatch
Tech-savvy, independent, and impact-focused are a few of the descriptors that come to mind when thinking about Gen Z. But changes brought about by COVID-19 means there are many new things for managers and campus recruiters to learn about this generation. One major facet is understanding how Gen Z communicates in the workplace -- especially a remote one.
